Cheap Wine Ratings is all about finding good wine at affordable prices.

I’m Tim, the Quaffmaster General on this site.  I’m based in Cincinnati, Ohio but I drink in all parts of the world.  I enjoy wine, but I’m also too frugal to spend a lot on it.  For years I’ve been searching for the best value wines.  Wading through all the choices to find the best picks is no easy task, so I thought I’d share my search with others.  And thus, cheapwineratings.com was born.

Although I don’t spend a lot on wine, I tend to be a bit of a wine snob.  My rating process is very systematic and technical, with numerous qualitative characteristics evaluated to determine a wine’s rating.  That rating is coupled with a descriptive review of the characteristics to give you a good sense of how good a wine is and why you’ll enjoy it (or not).

I find most wine publications focus on wines that are $20 and up… way up.  Yet most wine sold is priced under $20.  The general rule of thumb on cheapwineratings.com is that wines featured will be $20 or less.  I may go over that price occasionally, but that will be rare and noted.  In my opinion, you don’t need to spend a lot to get great wine, you just need to make informed choices.

I encourage your feedback and suggestions.  You can contact me by sending an e-mail to tim (at) cheapwineratings.com

Wine Samples

I do accept wine samples from producers interested in having their wines reviewed on this site.  However, I will not guarantee a review if you send wine to me.  I may or may not disclose that I recieved the wine as a sample if the review is posted.  If you are interested in sending samples, please contact me at tim (at) cheapwineratings.com.
